Reports of Visitors:

Mary Coussons-Read, Provost:
Academic Affairs is collaborating on an audit of faculty service with Faculty Assembly to look at efficiency of faculty service. We will be working on that over the summer and will bring it back to Faculty Assembly in the Fall. Please be sure to give your input and get on the list of undocumented service faculty are serving on, if applicable. Dr. David Laude, Senior Vice Provost for Enrollment & Graduation Management at UT/Austin, visited the campus on April 24 and gave several informative presentations. As a result, we will focus on working with individual units to concentrate on an undergraduate emphasis, including undergrad research and undergrad engagement. Commencement is next Friday and we are looking forward to a well-attended event by the faculty. We will be advancing two new degrees, Master of Science in Athletic Training and Bachelor of Arts in Inclusive Elementary Education, to the Board of Regents in June. In Leadership Team this morning, it was discussed that the campuses must develop a set of metrics to measure progress. This is a directive from the Board of Regents and we will get a framework in front of the regents in June. We will need to get faculty input in the Fall.

David Weiss, Director of Compass Curriculum:
An update was given on the new Compass Curriculum program (formerly the campus-wide General Education program). The program was available only to Freshmen this year. Transfer students will be starting this program in the Fall. It starts with Gateway (GPS) for Freshman year; Explore for Sophomore year; Navigate for Junior year; and Summit for Senior year. We will be offering faculty development workshops again this Fall. We have a website geared for both faculty and students. We also have a faculty-led effort on assessment and we will be offering grants.
